Glasgow branch meetings are held 6 times per year at the Royal Hospital for Children, Govan Road, Glasgow. At these meetings, we try to have someone come along to give a talk to our members. In the past we have had staff from the hospital, including all professions, members of the trust, public relations staff and many more. The meetings are very relaxed and we hope friendly. Tea and biscuits are provided. The meetings give parents a chance to get to know one another and have a chat with someone who understands how they are feeling
Our membership list, which at present stands at 130, has addresses which stretch in and around Glasgow to Ayr, Oban, Perth and Ardrossan to mention a few areas. A newsletter giving dates and times of the meeting, as well as other useful information is sent to all members. It is obviously difficult for parents who live that bit further away to attend but hopefully the newsletter keeps them in touch with what is going on and they know that someone is always at the other end of the phone.
The family weekend in Pitlochry at the Atholl Centre is well supported.
We have about 4 or 5 families who go each year from the Glasgow branch. This is a great weekend where we meet up with families/friends from other branches.
Our annual trip to Millport is always a good event. We take up to 240 members, friends and families to the isle of Cumbrae on the first Saturday in June each year. On this sponsored event, those who wish cycle round the island at the end of which we have a picnic outside the Garrison, where everyone can have a chat and catch up with old friends.

The last event of the year is the Christmas party. We have music, fun and games and a Christmas story is read to the children. Of course the main attraction of the party is Santa, who is welcomed into the room by the children singing 'Jingle Bells'. It is great to see the happy faces at the end of the day.

A big thank you must go to the members who 'man' the stalls at these events and to everone who donated goods to the stall. There is a lot of work involved getting the goods to the events, setting up and running the stalls.
